East Kilbride Rotary Club
34 pupils from Calderglen High School's 1st and 2nd years along with two of the School Captains, Scot Magee and Katrina Livingston and four member of staff, Assistant Head June Watters, Pupil Support Staff Caroline Mason, Colin Stewart, and English staff Mhari Healy and son Jackson were joined by Rotarians Tom Wilson, Iain Bonomy and Archie King and grandson Kyle from Hunter P S and spent a very active 2 hours collecting refuse from between the path beside the back road to Hamilton and the School and from the School to Calderglen at Glen Almond Again the pupils received a great response from householders working in their gardens or those who were out and about at the time. At least 60 bags of discarded bottles,cans,paper and cartoons as well as unusual items such as a sheeps boney skull and car tyres.
A big thank you also goes to the Calderglen Rangers for supplying the litter plcklng sticks, bags and gloves as well as collecting the bags from the various drop off locations and disposing of them.
This was a very successful exercise, with the next episode taking place in the Spring of next year.
